Remove any old paint from the wood as necessary. If the wood you want to paint has paint already on it, you may have to remove it before adding a new coat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sand the surface of the wood with coarse sandpaper and finish off with fine sandpaper. Start by sanding down the area where you’ve used putty or filler before moving to the rest of the surface for an even feel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recoating after 24 hours. Once the first coat has dried, sand the wood again. Then add a second in the same manner. Wait another 24 hours to dry. If you used a brush, two coats is fine. For any areas where a cloth or spray was used, repeat twice for a total of four coats.<\/p>\n
